In a simple way, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has directed his state officials not to make any special arrangements when he tours the state after the govt. faced backlash over reports of high-handedness. According to him, “We are people who sit on the floor; we don’t require any special arrangement. Honoring the people of my state is, in fact, the honor of the CM.”
Yesterday the order has been received by the UP CM office. It comes in the wake of controversies surrounding his recent visits. Yogi also said, “The CM deserves respect only if the people of the respective state feel respected.”
Last month, a Border Security Force man Prem Sagar was murdered and mutilated in Jammu and Kashmir. The family of Prem Sagar said the special arrangements made before the CM’s visit left them “humiliated”. An air conditioner was installed by the local administration, and also they rolled out a carpet, placed a sofa and laid out saffron-colored towels for the special guest (CM). And all these items were taken away the moment he left. Prem Sagar’s family said that they were taken aback when local authorities removed the air conditioner, sofa, carpet and all other items soon after the CM left their place. Prem’s brother Daya Sagar said, “Officials took away the AC, sofa, carpetall other items soon after the CM Yogi Adityanath left our residence”.
However, there was no official word for it. Reports also said that the Kushinagar administration provided soap and shampoo also to members of the Scheduled Caste (SC) Mushahar community ahead of a visit by CM Yogi. They were reportedly asked to meet the UP CM after a proper bath.
The govt. was under fire from the opposition parties after the 2 incidents. The Congress party reacted sharply and demanded that a case should be registered against Mr. Yogi Adityanath. Congress spokesperson Mr. Abhishek Manu said, “A low level of untouchability was directly practiced”.
Obviously, the news is very sensitive and positive but the background is totally different. The Justification for the decision made by the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath is not that much suitable.
Everywhere every time, almost in all cases, a positive decision has been taken only after experiencing a lot of negative anomalies in the society. It is true that the current CM is willing to improve some social aspects also in continuation with the economic and cultural growth of the state but is it possible if remaining are not willing to pay attention to those policies. The CM can make only the rules, regulations and laws but it is the duty of government officers and all the people of the state to strictly follow that rules. Then only improvement is possible in a state with respect to a time frame and other boundary condition.
