Imran Masood, MLA of Behat Assembly constituency in Saharanpur, quit the Congress in January to contest Akhilesh Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party ticket. Not getting a ticket from SP, he is going to join Bahujan Samaj Party this time. According to sources, BSP leader Mayawati has promised to give him a ticket. According to sources, BSP leader Mayawati is active in all the steps that can be taken to weaken the SP.
This Muslim leader from western Uttar Pradesh is quite influential. He recently snatched state media headlines with a deadly allegation. Before leaving Congress, he tweeted, “I’ve been treated like a dog. People have been forced to stand on their own two feet.” It was true that the SP wanted a leader, but Akhilesh had more than one candidate in most of the assembly constituencies.
There are candidates from their own party, as well as many from BJP, BSP, and Congress. Many have been brought in with the promise of tickets. But in reality, it is not possible, realizing that Akhilesh was forced to declare that no more disgruntled leaders will be taken from the BJP.
According to the political camp, as the polls approach, it is becoming clear that Mayawati’s main target is not the BJP, but SP Akhilesh Singh Yadav.
