The sudden death of Union minister Anil Madhav Dave came as a shock to the people of our nation. He passed away today early in the morning, at the age of 60. He had not been keeping well for the last few months and today morning he complained of uneasiness at his home and brought to the intensive care unit for cardiac emergencies at AIIMS with uneasiness, shortness of breath and chest pain to AIIMS, after few hours doctors declared him dead.

According to an official statement, as a mark of respect to the departed dignity, the government has decided that our national flag will fly half-mast today in all state and Union territories capitals on all the buildings where it is flown regularly.

The 60 years old BJP(Bharatiya Janta Party) leader was a member of the Rajya Sabha since 2009. He was a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) man at heart and in mind. He has been chosen as the minister of state (independent charge) for the environment, forest and climate change by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July last year. He had replaced Prakash Javadekar, who had been promoted to the rank of Cabinet minister in charge of the human resource development ministry. He was a three- time member of parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh and a self-proclaimed environmentalist and an expert in river conservation and an honorary member of the parliamentary forum on global warming. Also, He was involved in social work right from his early days and founded NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) “Narmada Samagra” for the conservation of river.

The environment was a subject close to the heart of Anil Dave.The environmentalist remembered for his efforts to revive the Narmada River through various activities and event. He had pushed for chemical-free farming along the river to avoid damage to the river. Also, he was appreciated for his environmental and restoration activities. The deceased minister sought for a simple cremation and requested people to clean water bodies and plant trees in his memory.

The Madhya Pradesh government declared a two-day state mourning as a mark of respect to the great leader. President Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the passing away union minister by saying that he is sad to learn about the sudden demise of the environmentalist. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in meetings with the minister as late as last evening, via twitter, condoled by calling him a devoted public servant and termed his demise as a personal loss. Dave’s last rites will be performed on Friday on Narmada river’s bank in Hoshangabad district. Mr. Anil Dave was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) from his childhood.

After the sudden death of Anil Madhav Dave, Union minister Harsh Vardhan, Minister for science, Technology and Earth Science, has been given extra charge of the Environment Ministry.
