The construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, despite other positive and negative issues, will be the most talked-about issue at the polls. After the Supreme Court’s decision in 2019, work on the Ram Mandir temple in Ayodhya got underway. Ayodhya has become the fulcrum of Uttar Pradesh’s upcoming assembly elections. Ayodhya’s role in the battle of Lucknow is yet to be determined. Ayodhya has changed a lot in the last three decades, but how much? In Ayodhya, how much will the BJP gain from the construction of the Ram temple?

On similar issues, CVoter conducted a survey to gauge public sentiment. An online poll conducted by News and CVoter on the 29th anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition found that 2,064 people participated in the survey. On the eve of Uttar Pradesh’s 2022 assembly election, CVoter spoke to the people of the state about the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. CVoter conducted separate interviews with supporters of the BJP, Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Bahujan Samaj Party.

Is the BJP going to benefit from the construction of the Ram Mandir?

In the upcoming Assembly elections, 58.6 percent of people believe the construction of the Ram Temple will help the BJP while 41.4 percent believe it will hurt the BJP. 79.2 percent of BJP supporters, 51.9 percent of Congress supporters, 31.3 percent of SP supporters, and 35.7 percent of BSP supporters believe that the construction of the Ram Mandir will benefit the BJP. As far as BJP and SP supporters are concerned, the survey appears to have produced a polarised response.
