India and the United Arab Emirates exemplified credible models against the tendencies of radicalism and extremism in the recent visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the joint statement by Crown prince and Prime Minister Modi, they both agreed that terrorism and extremism cannot be defeated by the use of force only and they acknowledged the need for more holistic approach which includes the disrupting of the use of social media and world wide web for the promotion of violent ideologies and extremism. They also acknowledge that the use of religious centers for the radicalization of youth and to recruit young terrorist should be prevented and tolerance should be promoted.
In the joint statement by PM Narendra Modi who is on a two-day visit of the Gulf nation said that terrorism should be condemned in all its forms and the efforts of states to justify the use of religion for sponsoring terrorism. Both sides, India and UAE highlighted that both societies are examples of the credible model against the growing tendencies of radicalism and extremism.
The joint statement further said that the existing cooperation in the area is highly appreciated by the exchanges of best practices and visits and both sides resolve to combat terrorism and extremism and they will strengthen their efforts in countering it. Both of them, the Crown Prince and Narendra Modi expressed their condemnation strongly regarding terrorism and extremism in every form and manifestation regardless of who is the perpetrators and what is their motivation. They said that using religion to justify, sponsor and support terrorism will not be tolerated and use terrorism as state policy will not be entertained.
The statement said that the leaders of both countries committed themselves for furthering their cooperation which will result in promoting national security, prosperity and peace and they also agreed to make their collaborations regarding maritime security and joint anti-piracy and training and exercise and in the areas of outer space stronger.
Crown Prince and Prime Minister Modi also looked forward to deepening their collaborations in defense sector which will include training programmes, high-level visits from both sides, ship visits, port calls and participation in defense exhibitions.
The two sides also committed to helping each other in strengthening their maritime security in the Indian Ocean and Gulf region which is very necessary for the security and prosperity of both nations. The joint statement came after a high-level talk in between Crown Prince and Deputy Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces Mr. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said and Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said. He also held talks with Sultan of Oman as two-sided signed eight agreements aimed towards prosperity and peace for both nations which included pacts on cooperation in the fields of health, defense, and tourism.
Prime Minister Modi also held high-level talks with Qaboos bin Said al Said while discussing different measures by which cooperation in trade and investment, security, energy, regional issues and food security will be strengthened. After the meeting they have signed other eight agreements which includes civil and commercial matters.
