Burhan Wani’s successor of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat along with other militants killed in two anti-militancy operations in Tral area of Kashmir’s Pulwama district. On Friday, Indian Army prevented an assault by Pakistan’s Border Action Team and killed two interlopers along the LoC (Line of Control) in Uri sector of Jammu & Kashmir. The second operation in Rampur sector, where six terrorists killed and the Army officials confirmed that the infiltration attempt has stopped successfully. Security reinforcements have dispatched to the sensitive areas of the States after the killing of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorist Sabzar Bhat to prevent clashes.
This situation may be recalled the killing of Burhan Wani on July 8 last year in south Kashmir. His killing had sparked violence in the valley for months. The situation across the valley is tense. Soon after the operation, stone-pelting protests started and the people rushed to their homes and the schools in Srinagar closed three hours early.
Once again the internet has snapped in the valley as protests spread, On 26th April, the Mehbooba Mufti government blocked some social networking sites including WhatsApp, Facebook etc. because these sites were allegedly being misused by anti-national and anti-social elements to foment violence and with words that stone-pelters were mobilizing through WhatsApp. The government also shut down the mobile internet service to prevent dissemination of provocative content. According to the police sources, the stone-pelters being mobilized via WhatsApp groups and were already out in force in 10 or more areas in the valley.
Sabzar Bhat alias Abu Zarar is a local of South Kashmir’s Tral and had become an important member of the terrorist group when he snatched a rifle from a CRPF jawan during the protests after Wani’s elder brother killed. He was a close associate of slain Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander BurhanWani and after Wani’s death last year, he makes the successor of the wing while another militant Zakir Musa was given the work of attracting youths to the wing. He carried a bounty of Rs 10 lakhs on his head, was one of the eleven people in one of the earliest photos of Burhan Wani along with his associates.
Sources said that he recently visited Srinagar, very likely to meet Hurriyat leaders to strike a truce after Zakir Musa’s outburst against him. The intelligence agencies started tracking him from Srinagar and finally zeroed in on where he was. He was reportedly killed in that encounter in Tral after he trapped inside a house in a cordon created by the forces and they gunned down during an hour-long encounter. The operation was in progress when last reports came in and no casualties have reported so far.
In recent days, it has been observed that Kashmir has taken a turn towards more violence, which reflects some negative impression. But it can be the reason of a revolution.
