In Manipur both the party, Congress and BJP failed to get a majority in the 2017 election, the result of which announced yesterday. Congress got 28 seats in a 60 number house. BJP was close behind the number 21. At least 31 seats are needed to form the government but congress has three shorts and BJP has 10 shorts. The Naga Peoples Front (NPF) and the National People’s Party (NPP) bagged 4 seats each. The Lokjanshakti Party (LP), Trinamool Congress (TMC) and an Independent candidate won one seat each. Now the question is who will form the government. Either congress or BJP, but both of them are paralyzed without the support of these small parties.
On Saturday, results were announced for elections in five states includes UP, Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Manipur. The BJP has got a landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh and has also swept the hill state of Uttarakhand. It has got the second position in both Manipur and Goa, but BJP chief Amit Shah made it clear that the BJP will attempt to form the govt. in both states, in his victory speech. Since last 15 years, the Congress’ Okram Ibobi Singh has been the Chief Minister of Manipur. This time the BJP challenged him in its bid to win another state in the north-east and fielded top rebels of the Congress.
Hence in this critical situation, smaller parties hold the key to govt. formation. In Manipur, political observers said that BJP has the chance to form government looking into the past situation and their inclination towards Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
But what smaller parties are saying? The NNP’s Conrad Sangma today told that the party’s new legislators will decide by Sunday evening who they will support. “We have alone fought the election, so we should take the decision alone. Let us decide”. Bharatiya Janata Party’s leaders are saying that these small parties have full support to a non-congress party. Mr. Ram Madhav said that “The BJP has already got some hopes for the cooperation of others as well to achieve the numbers required to form the govt. in Manipur”. He said that the election results were a clear expression against the Congress and the Ibobi Singh’s government.
National General Secretary of BJP, Mr. Ram Madhav claimed, during a campaign in Imphal, that Naga Peoples Front (NPF) had declared that they will support a non-congress party. The Lok Jan Shakti Party, The ally of the National Democratic Alliance, Lok Jan Shakti won one seat and its leader, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, declared that it will support the BJP.
Let’s see what happens. Only after few hours, we will be able to know who will form the government in Manipur. But you should know what PM Modi’s opinion is in this critical scenario.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that BJP, as a party, has always been working for the people and development. BJP never got anything easily and they don’t have any regrets for that.
