PM Modi again spoke with Russian President Mr. Putin about the war-torn situation in Ukraine. Yesterday, it was the 12th day of the war, the two leaders talked on the phone for about 50 minutes. According to a report in the PM Office, Narendra Modi has asked Vladimir Putin to hold direct talks with Volodymyr Zelensky to end the war.

Narendra Modi spoke to Mr. Putin on the phone for the 3rd time in the wake of the war situation. The two 2nd  time spoke on February 24, since the Russian president announced a military operation in Ukraine. Before speaking with Putin, Narendra Modi also had a 35-minute phone conversation with Ukrainian President Zelensky. Modi sought the help of the Ukrainian government in rescuing about 600 Indian students in the war-torn city of Sumi in eastern Ukraine.

The Modi-Putin talks also focused on the safe repatriation of Indians stranded in war-torn cities in Ukraine. Kremlin residents have assured New Delhi of “full cooperation”. PM Modi called Putin to hold direct talks with the President of Ukraine. Incidentally, last week Zelensky also wanted to talk directly with Putin to restore peace.
