Prime Minister (PM), Narendra Modi gave his first and 40th 2018 Mann ki Baat address today. In his speech, he highlighted the works of several Padma winners whose names were announced in the Republic Day on Friday. He acknowledged that this time, the normal common people who are not in the media have gotten to receive the awards, unlike tradition. He acknowledged that the selection procedure is online for the last three years limiting attempts to rig the process. Anyone could be nominated for the honors as the process is transparency oriented. Narendra urged the society to follow the stories of the honorary winners to get enriched and inspired. His address was also concentrated on the efforts of women who were now moving forward in different fields. His speech was focused on the same efforts women made in the Indian society thus contributing to India’s development.

In his previous address, the PM spoke about the cleanliness national survey to be conducted between January 4, 2018, and March 10, 2018. The survey is currently ongoing.

Modi Lauds the Women of India

The PM exemplified the contribution of women to both the economy and the society by citing Kalpana Chawla’s efforts in the space sector which culminated to her death in the Columbia space shuttle crash in February 2003. Other women mentioned in his speech were Defense Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman and Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi. Nirmala flew in a Sukhoi-30MKI while Joshi was the influencing factor for having all women crew sail across the globe.

Narendra also spoke about the tribal Dantewada women in Chhattisgarh. He reiterated that they are driving e-rickshaws in an environment full of violence perpetrated by Maoists hence making them self-sufficient. He also acknowledged all the women station at Matunga in Maharashtra and lauded all women bikers of the BSF contingent for their efforts. In general, He lauded all women in their capacities for pushing India’s agenda ahead.

Other Highlights in his Speech

Narendra Modi praised the benefits of Jan Aushadhi Yojana responsible for helping old citizens with affordable WHO compliant medicine. The groups’ objective is to provide adequate and affordable healthcare to all Indians. The Prime Minister said that on NRI day, India invited MPs and Mayors from all the countries. He thanked these officials for helping maintain ties between India and their countries.
