This time the BJP returned to power in the northeastern state of Manipur with an absolute majority, not a triangular one. They are going to form a single government by increasing 10 more seats than before.

The BJP has won 31 seats in the 60-seat assembly in Manipur. The number of seats is required to form the government 31 and they did it. In the 2016 elections, BJP got 21 seats. The Congress was three seats away from an absolute majority. With 26 seats, they were number one. But this time the Congress got only 6 seats and came down to the third position with one push. On the other hand, Naga People’s Front (NPF) and Janata Dal-United (JDU) came in second with 6 seats each.

It is said that the party in power at the center, the northeastern states lean towards that party in general. According to that tradition, the ruling BJP at the Center was confident of victory in this northeastern state from the very beginning. Before the vote, the Chief Minister of Assam visited Manipur and said, “We are confident. This time BJP will return to power with the majority. ” At the same time, he said, the BJP is not dependent on any other political party in this election. The primary goal of the team is one – to achieve a single majority.
