Jon Cordova is a top official (Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). He has been placed on administrative leave after a CNN KFile inquiry on his baseless social media postings. It is claimed that Jon pushed unfounded smears on social media.
Amid the crackdown on Russia meddling in the 2016 elections, Jon stems as an individual who pushed stories filled with unsubstantiated claims through his social media accounts. Some of the baseless stories he spread included conspiracy theories such as Gold Star father Khizr Khan being a Muslim Brotherhood agent.
Background Information on Jon Cordova
Before Joining HHS, Cordova was Trump’s delegate from California to the Republican National Convention and also worked as a communications official in California for Trump’s campaign. He routinely promoted stories on social media that supported flimsy claims about the President’s rivals.
According to his biography posted on the HHS website, Cordova joined the organization in February 2017 under the position of Office of the White House Liaison. In his current position, he oversees daily operations for the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance, and Operations, Office of Human Relations, Office of Security and Strategic Information and the Program Support Centre.
Stories Shared by Cordova
One of Cordova’s targets was Khan. Khan spoke out against Donald Trump at the Democratic National Convention in 2016. For that, Cordova shared a story about him being a Muslim Brotherhood agent as well as a Muslim plant working with the Hillary Clinton campaign. Cordova, later on, shared another story implicating the Clinton Foundation to having paid Khan.
In a different development, he shared unfounded and false stories that alleged Cruz frequented prostitutes and was involved in a sex scandal. He also stated that Cruz was hiding public records that related to his birth and education.
One may assume that Cordova was instrumental in smearing false stories against Trump’s opponents but his transgressions can be traced back to 2013. Cordova referred to Democrats as “the real racists” and implied that 95 percent of the African Americans would not have voted for Barrack Obama if he were white.
Sharing conspiratorial and fake stories is in his talent including one which he claimed Hillary Clinton photoshopped pictures of her rallies to show that they had larger crowds or one that claimed NBA star Dwayne Wade endorsed Trumps candidacy.
