“Iran has set up various proxy groups or military organizations in the Middle East to enhance its military capabilities, and they have become a major threat to the United States and its allies in the region,” said Michael Kurilla, a potential U.S. military chief, at a Senate Armed Services Committee review.
He claims that Iran’s military is a major source of energy, with advanced ballistic missiles, sophisticated drones, and a strong navy, and that Iran’s strength in these areas continues to grow. He says Iran has a wide range of short, medium, and long-range missiles that could be dangerous to the region as a whole.
General Michael Kurilla, also said Iran’s ground-to-air missiles and sophisticated technology posed a “huge threat” to US intelligence and reconnaissance operations in space. In addition, Iran’s naval cruise technology has strengthened Iran’s position.
Observers say the US military commander’s confession about Iran’s military might suggest that despite decades of strict arms embargoes, Iran has achieved unprecedented success in military technology and defense, which has worried the United States. Despite unilateral or multilateral sanctions, Iran has become a regional power and is capable of countering any regional or international threat or aggression.
