Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian people in Washington after meeting CEOs of major American companies on Sunday. In his speech, he spoke about the 3 years of his govt. and the growth of the foreign ministry through technology. Modi also mentioned about India’s successful surgical strikes, pointing out that till now no country in the world questioned it. PM Modi also said that while India is a peace-loving nation, it will not hesitate to strongly retaliate when provoked.

PM Narendra Modi today also emphasized on the business theme while discussing with USA’s top company executives.  He said that India has now emerged as a business-friendly destination. And obviously, with the upcoming implementation of landmark GST, which is beginning next month, it will ease the case. He has asked CEOs of top US companies to invest in India.

During the interaction in the roundtable meeting with the CEOs of top 20 US firms, PM Modi also said that India attracted the largest amount of foreign direct investment as a result of the NDA government’s efficient policies in the last 3 years.

Gopal Bagley, spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs quoting the PM Modi as saying “The whole world is looking at India’s economy. Seven thousand reforms alone by GOI for ease of doing business in this country with maximum governance,”.

In the discussion the members were CEO Tim Cook of Apple, CEO Sunder Pichai from Google, John Thomas Chambers from Cisco and Jeff Bezos of Amazon, PM Modi spoke about the reforms undertaken by the Indian government, saying they numbered more than seven thousand, and were aimed at ease of business and maximum governance.

After the discussion, Narendra Modi tweeted, “Interacted with top CEOs, and we held extensive discussions on business opportunities in India”. He said that the world is now focused on India’s economy, especially in areas like trade, manufacturing, commerce, and communication, due to a young population and a rising middle-class.

PM Narendra Modi also pointed out that our growth rate presents a win-win partnership for India and America in the discussion, and American companies have really a great opportunity to contribute to IT.  He also added that “If the USA becomes stronger; India will be a natural beneficiary”. On the recent implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, Narendra Modi said its implementation is a complex task that may well turn out to be “a great subject of studies in American business schools. It shows India can take big decisions and implement them swiftly”.

During the interaction at the meeting, PM Modi gave a patient hearing to the wish-list of the top executives. According to Baglay, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointed out that opportunity for tourism through developing hotels in Public Private Partnership (3-Ps) model at 500 railway stations. PM Modi said his government has focused on improving the quality of life, and also added that working towards this goal requires a global partnership.
