His family managed to get a bed in that hospital with the help of a Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee. After that, they requested Apollo hospital to release him, but Apollo refused to release him because the total treatment bill was not settled.

His family paid 60% of the bill and assured Apollo to pay the remaining amount but they refused. Ultimately the family arranged the money from a friend, relatives, but it was too late. Even the family has submitted all the fixed deposit documents to the hospital, but they could not sum up the 8 lacks amount.

Appllo hospital authorities took the fixed deposit documents from the family but they claimed that they did not demand it. Hospital authority is saying that they also accepted the cheque from the family. “Usually don’t accept the cheque but on the humanitarian ground we accepted it,” said Hospital Chief Operating Officer, Jay Bose. According to Jay Bose, they arranged their ambulance to shift the patient to SSKM govt. hospital. They also said treatment never stopped. Later hospital authority was ready to refund the amount the family paid for Sanjay Roy’s treatment.

They left him for 4 hours for CT scan. After that, they put him on a ventilator, after saying that the report of CT scan is OK. Actually, they just wanted to increase the bill amount. He died only because of the negligence of doctors” he alleged.
