While attending a conference, Uma Bharti was standing on a stool and continued to hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Trinamool Congress leader Mamta Banerjee, an unidentified worker was seen holding the stool for the minister, which quite an uncomfortable scene.

The BJP’s riposte to Rahul Gandhi’s “Ganga” attack on Narendra Modi was delivered by union minister for water resources, Uma Bharti. Ganga River cleaning is another big issue in India’s politics since last 4-5 years. In the conference, she said that Mr.Rahul Gandhi should not run away to other countries after the election results are out. She also added he should come with me for the cleaning work of Ganga River and if cleaning work has not started, either Rahul can jump into the Ganga or I will.” She also said that Chief Minister of Samajwadi Party is the biggest enemy of Ganga.
“Work is continuing in four out of five states but the UP government issued an order to all Ganga districts not to give any no-objection certificate (NoC) to the campaign of clean Ganga. I can give you a copy of the order issued by the government,” said the minister. She also said, as an advice for Rahul Gandhi “Either Rahul should throw Akhilesh Yadav off his bandwagon, or get off his.”
While addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday, for the final round of the assembly election 2017, Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not kept an election promise to clean the Ganga River. Mr Gandhi was speaking at the public rally in Varanasi, the Prime Minister’s parliamentary constituency, when he said, “Narendra Modi said that I am the son of Uttar Pradesh, and Ganga is my mother and Ganga Mata has called me from Gujarat… Modi ji came to Ganga Maa and made a deal… he said Ganga Maa make me the Prime Minister first and then I will look after everything for cleaning of Ganga. Tell me what has he done for Uttar Pradesh or for Ganga Mata? Did he clean up the Ganga till date?”
On the other hand, Uma Bharti alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s comments revealed his small mind”. “Not only the Gujrat people calls the Ganga their mother, the entire nation calls the Ganga their mata. His mother Sonia Gandhi also talked to me very emotionally about the Ganga. Rahul Gandhi should learn from his mother at least” the minister added.
Ms.Bharti invited Mr Gandhi to inspect her work on the Ganga on October 2018. According to Ms Uma Bharti, Prime Minister Modi was the first leader after Mahatma Gandhi to raise the awareness on cleanliness. She said they have contributed seven times more funds to clean the Ganga than earlier governments in UP. She also added that work in the first phase of cleaning will be over on schedule by October 2018 and the second phase would begin after that.
