Yesterday was marked by a severe terror attack in Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital where the insurgents use an ambulance to courier a bomb which killed over 95 innocent victims. The Afghani government accuses Pakistan of harboring terror factions contrary to their claims of commitment towards battling the combatants. America too is an interested party in the fight against terror whereby they used to offer the Afghani government funding to assist in operations to curtail terror in the region. Donald Trump suspended a $255 million military aid to Pakistan amid claims that the country was not truthful in their commitment to fight terror. Trump accused Pakistan of giving terrorists a safe haven in exchange for funding amounting to $33 million.

Aftermath of the Kabul attack

The death toll of the most significant attack in Afghan’s capital, Kabul rose to 105 today and the injured to around 250. Donald Trump in a veiled message to Pakistan on Saturday urged nations to take action against the Taliban and terrorist organizations. The war on terror is a global initiative and America together with other partners such as the European Union have been instrumental and committed towards the war. The President’s stamen came some hours after the attack hence implying that the message was meant for Pakistan.

Trump called the attack senseless adding that there should be no tolerance for those counties offering support and sanctuary to terror groups (another statement referring to Pakistan indirectly). He condemned the despicable act in Kabul that left the innocent dead and scores injured. Trump reiterated that the attack called for a new resolve from America and that of their Afghan partners.

Past Accusations

America has accused Pakistan of disregard in cracking down on militant groups such as the Taliban or their Haqqani allies. The phenomenon is the same through to Trump’s administration. On the other hand, the Pakistani government has refuted such claims and instead resorted to pointing an accusatory finger at India. Pakistan accuses India of using intelligence efforts to create instability in the country. The accusation was leveled during the country’s address to international envoys on civil and military leadership.

Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Pakistan’s ambassador to the US also supports his country’ position. In a bid to divert attention to the subject, the Ambassador accused India of hosting a growing militancy group veiled under the Hindutva ideology. Pakistan has always been defensive on the accusations leveled against it.
