On the eve of the anniversary of the January 6 incident, former president Jimmy Carter, today said that the democracy of the country is at genuine risk. He also mentioned that the risk is also of civil conflict and Americans are losing their prestigious democracy.

In his words, he is very much worried about the disrespectfulness of others’ opinions by every political party. Without targeting anyone he clearly expressed his opinion about the current situation of America. According to him “our great nation now teeters on the brink of a widening abyss.”

According to him, American political parties are now not respecting each other and that is reflected in pre and post-elections.  The president also said that without immediate action, Americans can lose their prestigious democracy.

He suggested solutions to the issue. He suggested that the American citizens should agree on the constitutional norms. He also mentioned that everyone should respect each other despite different political opinions. According to him, the people of America should resist polarization and the disinformation should be addressed immediately.

The 97-year-old former President said, “people must set aside differences and work together before we lose our democracy.”
