The compliments came a week after FIR was registered against an Army officer when three men were killed in a clash between Army soldiers and stone pelters in Shopian. The Army opened fire against a group of people who were pelting stones on the convoy. The FIR even led to some friction between PDP and its ally BJP.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti while addressing the Jammu and Kashmir state assembly on Friday said that the Army was most disciplined and vouched for the continuance of Armed Forces for peace and security in the state. Mufti said that the situation on the ground does not permit the revocation of AFSPA.

In violence-related incidents, five civilians were killed last month in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
