On Friday Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with all the MPs from his home state Gujarat.  He tells asked them to work as a public servant with overtime, if required, to fulfill the expectations of people. Not only the MPs from Gujarat, many parliamentarians from Rajasthan, Goa, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar islands were also present in the meeting with Narendra Modi at his residence in Delhi. Prime Minister also told them to make people aware of various initiatives were taken by the Central Government for public welfare.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that the Prime Minister Modiji has requested those MPs to use digital platforms for doing all the transactions and also connect with social media to reach out to the people of their respective constituencies. PM also told them that they should spread the message among people about the welfare schemes.

The parliamentarians apprised the PM about development work in their constituencies. The MPs also expressed their gratitude towards BJP president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the party’s landslide victory in the recent Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly elections.

Besides Narendra Modi, senior party leader L.K. Advani and affairs minister Ananth Kumar were also present at the meeting. Amit Shah told the MPs about Centre’s scheme to set up a National Commission for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (NCSEBC). NCSEBC is a constitutional body for welfare activity and addressing the grievances of the socially and educationally backward classes. According to Amit Shah this a landmark decision and this commission will lead to substantial improvement in quality life for backward classes.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been in power in Gujrat since last 2 decades and they want to retain its bastion, that’s why the meeting assumes significance. The party has announced “Mission 150” to win at least 150 seats of the state’s 182 assembly constituencies. Currently, the party has 123 seats in the states. The MP Smriti Irani, Union textiles minister has also attended the meeting.

Prime minister Modi reportedly asked those MPs how various schemes were getting implemented in their respective states and constituencies. Most of them reported only positives. The PM Narendra Modi then suggested they can talk of shortcomings too. MPs from these states were repeatedly reminded in the meeting that they have worked hard to ensuring that central government schemes for the poor and weaker sections and farmers are implemented effectively at the ground level.

The Prime Minister told them that it is the time to get ready for the upcoming elections in BJP-ruled Gujarat and Rajasthan. He also added that all of them should always be in election mode for this year’s Gujarat votes and next year’s Rajasthan votes.
