A booklet has been released in Lucknow by Uttar Pradesh unit of the Congress on a special occasion that has labeled Kashmir as ‘Indian Occupied Kashmir’. The occasion was the 3rd anniversary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the center. The Congress attacks the administration over national security affairs, including the handling of relations with Pakistan and China. After publishing the booklet, the Congress party is being skewered on social media after publishing the booklet.
BJP said, attacking the party for the mistake, that it must have gladdened the heart of its “patrons in Pakistan”. The phrase ‘Indian Occupied Kashmir’ trended on social media on Saturday as the blunder in the booklet released by a senior Congress lawmaker Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad came to light.
But Congress has denied that it is only the printing mistake in the booklet. The Congress leader Ajay Maken said, “This is only the printing error. We seek apology for that. This was our responsibility. Such mistakes will never be repeated. Unlike BJP party, we can seek apology if there are any mistakes”. Targeting the BJP, Mr Ajay Maken also said that the website of BJP had shown a similar map on 28th March, 2014. He claimed that a disputed map which was released in September had shown Arunachal Pradesh (AP) as a part of China during the signing of a treaty with China in the presence of Narendra Modi.
Although the Congress party apologized for the “big mistake”, and said it was a “printing error” But they have also claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had released a similar map on its website but never admitted to the mistake.
After the incident Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has reacted on it. According to him, “It is regrettable and shocking that a senior Congress leader like Nabi Azad is projecting the map of Kashmir where it is described as Indian occupied area. Is Congress speaking the language and tone of Pakistan?” it is true that some of the part of Kashmir is occupied by Pakistan and a parliament resolution is a proof of it. He also fingered in this direction and said, “A Parliament resolution says Pak-occupied Kashmir is part of India. The Congress party has made separatist happy by mentioning this quote in the booklet by projecting Kashmir as Indian occupied Kashmir. And they also gladdened the heart of its patrons across the border. Seriously it is condemnable”.
Targeting the BJP, Mr. Maken said its website had on March 28, 2014 shown a similar map. He claimed that the map which was released September 2014 during the signing the treaty with China in where it had shown Arunachal Pradesh (AP) as the part of China. On the other hand, supporters of the BJP clobbered the Congress for the gaffe on Twitter.
