In a recent interview, US President Joe Biden has said that World War III is an alternative to sanctions against Russia. After launching the military operation by Russia on Ukraine both the countries have already suffered heavy casualties on both sides. The West, including the United States and the European Union, has spoken out against Russia’s military action. Russia is already under sanctions in a number of areas.
In the interview Joe Biden mentioned “We have only 2 options, One, starting World War III, and Second, to force the country to pay the price for violating all international norms. ”
Yesterday, a video of the interview was released on a YouTube page. Joe Biden also said that no sanctions were being imposed immediately. He also mentioned that the sanctions would be widespread and the largest in history, which will include both economic and political sanctions.
Ukraine’s army is fighting alongside Russian forces. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is determined not to leave the country. Meanwhile, Russian forces have surrounded the capital, Kyiv.
Prior to the interview, President Biden had instructed US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to provide help of 350 million dollars in military assistance to Ukraine. In all, it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide 600 million for Ukraine.
