Deployment of armored vehicles, cannons, warships had already started. According to recent satellite imagery, a large number of Russian warplanes have gathered at airbases along the Ukrainian border. The incident is being seen as a “preparation for war” by the Russian military against Ukraine.
In addition to Russian airbases in western Russia, the presence of the Russian air force in Belarus, part of the former Soviet republic, and even Crimea, which was snatched from Ukraine, has been noticed in the satellite image of the Maxar. Over the past few days, satellite images taken from five airports near the Ukrainian border have shown signs of the Russian Air Force’s activities. It has been observed that Sukhoi-30, MiG-35 warplanes, military helicopters as well as various military equipment are being stored there.
But Moscow on Tuesday ruled out war with Ukraine. Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said troops from the southern and western provinces were returning to their bases as exercises ended.
But on Thursday, the United States released a satellite image claiming that the withdrawal of troops from the Ukrainian border was a long way off and that Moscow was still sending troops. The Russian military has set up at least 14 bases within 50 kilometers of the Ukrainian border. Temporary bridges have been built overnight to send troops to the border quickly.
