The Russian president said the main goal of the United States was to impose more sanctions on Russia on the pretext of war. President Putin says the United States is not addressing Russia’s concerns about the NATO alliance in Europe. He said the United States had ignored security guarantees that Russia wanted, including halting NATO expansion in Eastern Europe.

Vladimir Putin said after a meeting with visiting Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Moscow on Tuesday: “I do not think that the United States has any concerns about Ukraine’s security. Their main goal is to stop Russia’s progress. The United States is using Ukraine to achieve that goal.”

On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken tweeted that the United States was “trying to end a military conflict from which no one’s interests can be saved.” Members of the US-NATO military alliance say Russia is planning a military strike in Ukraine, an allegation Russia has repeatedly denied.
