The World Corruption Perceptions Index was released on Tuesday. India ranks 85th in the list of 180 countries. According to Transparency International’s (TI) annual report, India ranks 65th in terms of economic transparency in 2021. Last year, India was at number 70.
According to the Berlin-based think tank, all of India’s neighbors, except Bhutan, are at the bottom of the list. Pakistan has slipped 16 places to 140th position in the global corruption index.
The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), in its 2021 edition, ranks 180 countries and territories on a scale from zero (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean) based on their perceived levels of public sector corruption.
Denmark, New Zealand, and Finland stood first with 88 points each. Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany made the top 10 positions. Britain finished 11th with 78 points. America got 67 points in 2020. He has got the same number of points this time too, but he has dropped two places to be 27th.
