India and Slovenia discussed global and regional issues, including development in Indo-Pacific areas and the India and EU interrelations. Both India and Slovenia warmly welcomed the confluence in connectivity and digitization in the virtual format meeting.

The discussions were led by Reenat Sandhu of India(Secretary West) and Stanislav Rascan (State Secretary ), (Deputy Minister), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia. The ministry of external affairs informed about the developments in a statement issued.

Developments in the Indo-Pacific, India-EU relations, results in each other’s neighborhoods, and Climate Change was the main topic of the discussion, said the ministry, according to the statement.

India and Slovenia have always shared a warm and cordial relationship. This bond is due to mutually shared values of freedom, democracy, the establishment of the rule of law, and total and complete respect for human rights.

The backdrop of the consultations was Slovenia’s celebration of 30 years of independence and Slovenia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the period of July-December 2021.

Both the countries will celebrate their 30 years of diplomatic relations next year. During the virtual discussion, both sides, covered the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, including large-scale economic, political, academic, and cultural ties.
