The attack on Clinton
Hillary Clinton’s campaign advisor, Burns Strider, has been accused of sexual harassment. The senior advisor was Hillary’s advisor in the 2008 presidential campaign. Following a report by the New York Times which accused Hillary of not firing Burns after the allegations were leveled against. The former presidential candidate replied by saying that she was dismayed by Burn’s actions and that she feels that the case was taken seriously.
In her tweet response, she acknowledged that a story appeared on Friday and that she was dismayed by it. She also said that she was heartened by the act of the young woman to step forward and report the matter. She told Americans that she called the young lady to let her know that she was proud of her and that in this day and age, women deserve to be heard.
According to the Times, Burns was docked several weeks of pay and urged to undergo counseling which he blatantly refused. The attack on Hillary Clinton was to imply that the actions taken against Burns were not satisfactory. Burns also refused to comment on the matter when he was approached by New York Times for an interview on the matter.
Unraveled by the Times are claims that Burns was Hillary’s spiritual/faith advisor tasked with sending her scripture almost every day.
Otherwise, the attack on Clinton seems to be a reaction response to keep the #Me Too sexual harassment campaign that went viral in October 2017 elevated. A different twist could be revisiting the past to unearth imitations of a political opponent.
About the #Me Too Campaign
It is remarked as a watershed moment when women all over the world came together to support one another in breaking the silence against sexual harassment and assault. The founders of the movement, chosen as person of the year in Times magazine reiterate that the movement is not solely for the American woman but also other women in the world as violence against women is a global pandemic. The movement also does not peg its objective to those who can speak up but also those who can be spoken for.
The movement’s traction has sought support from other organizations like UNICEF which has come up with an extension to the movement dubbed #Her Too.
The movement states that when all girls do better, everyone does better!
