We all heard about the China Company, ZTE planning a “design a smartphone” campaign and it did happen too and then we all heard the news that it was nothing more than a MAJOR FLOP.
With just the last day to go, ZTE’s campaign had just derived $36,000 which was loads more than the target that had been set. The event was started with a target of at least $500,000 but was able to hardly bring $36,000 out of the campaign. Now is that not a major flop?
An analyst said that the voice and eye controller might have made the customers a little doubtful about it. The Project CSX smartphone actually allowed people to control it via voice command and eye movements. This means that you could scroll up and down the page through your eyes alone. Did this feature make the customer skeptical? Well, nothing can exactly be said about this but this was what some analysts came up with.
The ZTE page uploaded the statement that the fundraising campaign has been postponed (they obviously could not call it a flop on their own) due to the responses they have received. However, the company is puzzled about what their smartphone should consist of that will excite and attract customers without putting them in doubt. But the firm has said that this single failure does not put them on halt. The project is not over at all.
“This does not mean that the project is over,” the firm added.
They further added:
“We all are working on bringing in different and new ideas for making the Project CSX a win. It is all about bringing an eye tracking feature to the world with some really amazing and self-adhesive backing up system. However, all of this will be implemented in the lights of your advice”
This simply means that ZTE is now planning to play a little safe and to do so, they will be asking their customers about what do they want from the Project CSX smartphone. This is definitely a smart move and the company should have certainly kept the audience advice up the sleeve for the first time as well. But it is never too late to start over, is it?
ZTE made a claim that thousands of customers actually voted for it. Project CSX smartphone is all about a communication that doesn’t require the use of your hands. You can do so by voice command and with your eye movement too. They also bought in the self-adhesive concept which means that the phone can be stuck anywhere on a wall too or any vertical surface for that matter. That sounds pretty cool but why the campaign failed so badly, is a matter of concern for the firm. However, they are working on it and we will soon see what they will be coming forth with this year!
