The allocation of this year budget is unfair to the people of Andhra Pradesh, says Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. There is a request made by the state to make a revision the allocation of budget to the state and the Chief Minister said that he was ready to discuss the allocation. He said that the decisions by the central government are painful for the people of his state and they are wounded by this decision.
In a press conference, Chandrababu Naidu said that he has come to meet Delhi more than 25 times to meet Prime Minister and Finance minister but no promise has been made for the reallocation of the budget. Telangana, a separate state has been carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014 and the meets of the people cannot be fulfilled by the current budget allocation.
The Telugu Desam Party and Bhartiya Janata Party are in an alliance and the TDP is the largest ally of BJP in South India but even this has not led to larger budget allocation to the state. Chandrababu Naidu led TDP has been requesting for the Special State category from the central government but NDA has not accepted this demand. This status will lead to Andhra Pradesh receiving huge financial assistance from the center. The Chief Minister has said that the center has a one-year deadline for general elections to complete its demands.
He said that his party had made an alliance with BJP for giving the justice to the people of Andhra Pradesh that they deserved. He was ready for a discussion on how much other states got in comparison to his state. In a press meeting, he said that he has come to meet Delhi more than 25 times to meet Prime Minister and Finance minister but no promise has been made for the reallocation of the budget. He demanded justice for the people of his state from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he is ready to make any sacrifice for the betterment of the lives of people of his state. Referring to the last year budget, he said that Centre has not done justice last year also and this year again the five-crore people of Andhra Pradesh have been deceived.
The TDP’s Member of Parliament had protested on the issue in the lower house and upper house and they have been trying to pressurize the government for a reallocation of the budget. One of the main demands of the party is to give the Special State category and this will allow them to receive large financial support. Mr. Naidu in a seminar at Bengaluru said that he has visited New Delhi more than 29 times and even he has not been able to convince the government for the reallocation of budget and incorporate extra funds for Andhra Pradesh. The NDA promise of justice and proper financial support has not been met yet.
Blaming the Congress for dicing the state irrational and that the people of Andhra Pradesh have to pay the price for this fault, said Chandrababu Naidu. The people voted out the party for this in 2014 and it could not even save its deposit. The budget session will start in Assembly on March 5 by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, E S L Narasimhan. There will be a joint session of Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council of state.
