Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while addressing a press conference said that the militants attacking the Sunjuwan Army camp in Jammu were supported by the locals and they had their support from across the border as well. The operation has come to an end as the terrorists have been neutralized but to make sure that the area is fully sanitized, the army is taking proper caution, she said in an interview.

Defence Minister had visited the Ladakh region just one week ago to access the security condition of the region and to make sure that the army was equipped with the ammunition in case of any further attack. During the visit, she went to the Chushul along the Indo-China border in Eastern Ladakh and highest post in Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) sector and interacted with the soldiers and held a meeting with military officials.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the terrorists belonged to the Pakistan based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammad and she was on a visit to J&K to access the situation. She also visited the Line of Control in Poonch sector and according to some sources Army Chief General Bipin Rawat was also to accompany defense minister in her visit but he was unable to come due to some emergency.

The operation which continued for more than fifty hours claimed lives of five soldiers and the three terrorists were also killed by the army. According to a report the terrorist tried to enter the army camp at around 4:30 in the morning when the sentry spotted and challenged them. Defence Minister left for Jammu at the Sunjuwan Army Camp to access the security situation and to ensure that the lives of civilians and soldiers are safe.

During the press conference when asked about the FIR on Major Aditya Kumar, Nirmala Sitharaman said that the matter was under investigation and the top court will son give its verdict. She said that the Supreme court had given two-weeks for the investigation of the police complaint myself. She quoted that we have to support our army men who risk their lives for the protection of the common citizens so that they can be safe. She also met with soldiers and injured civilians while she was on a visit to Jammu yesterday.

Indian Defence Minister said that the attacks were planned and organized by the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad which is supported and controlled by Azhar Masood who has support from Pakistani government and intelligence agency ISI. India will present evidence to Islamabad regarding the terror attacks which links the terrorist’s connection to their country and these types of events will not be tolerated and they will have to pay heavy prices for this misadventure. She said that Pakistan even after receiving dossiers after dossiers have not been replying to it and fresh evidence will be compiled and sent there to prove that they are responsible for the attacks over and over again.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while referring to the stone pelters said that those who were found guilty for the first time were given amnesty and she assured the citizens of Jammu & Kashmir that Indian Central government is taking their concerns in all seriousness.
