In the current Covid situation, the Ministry of Railways has decided to open the railway hospitals and health infrastructure for public use. This was stated by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishno at a meeting of the Railway Board after issuing new guidelines. Considering the upward corona infection rates across the country, this is the new decision of the railways to deal with the situation.
The general public will also be able to take advantage of other health facilities including railway hospital medicines, oxygen, liquid oxygen tanks. At the same time, the railway authorities will conduct awareness campaigns for the use of masks and sanitizers in railway stations. The new guidelines also state that masked persons will be barred from entering the station premises.
Only railway employees get medical treatment in railway hospitals in different states. But the railways decided to open these hospitals for public use only to cope with the current situation.
The number of corona cases is increasing at an alarming rate across the country. A total of 169,623 people in India have been infected with Corona in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry’s Corona statistics. Currently, the daily infection rate is nearly 13%.
