After Punjab, the Gandhi family had to return to the field as factional strife broke out in Uttarakhand, a voting state. Sources said that the top leadership of the Congress had spoken to him today after Harish Rawat, a senior leader from Uttarakhand, opened his mouth saying that he was facing obstacles within the party. On Friday, Rahul Gandhi may meet Harish and other leaders of Uttarakhand in Delhi. The meeting will be attended by state president Ganesh Goral and parliamentary party leader Pritam Singh.

Harish Rawat was in charge of Punjab for so long. He left the party after Amarendra was removed from the post of Chief Minister. On Wednesday, Harish alleged that the top leadership was obstructing his work. A top Congress source claimed that Harish was in fact pressuring him to declare himself the chief ministerial candidate and get full power in ticket distribution. Significantly, Goriyal, the president of the provincial Congress, claimed today that he too had faced the same problem.

However, he hopes that a solution will be found in the meeting with the High Command. Harish’s media adviser Surendra Kumar claimed that some Congress leaders were working for the BJP. They are busy watering down the possibility of Congress returning to power in Uttarakhand.
