Today, 24th march, Delhi police registered a FIR against Ravindra Gaikwad, A Shiv Sena MP for assaulting Air India Staffer. The FIR has been registered against a complaint filed by Air India alleging that the MP assaulted a staff member on the flight yesterday. It has been registered under section 308 and section 355 of the IPC. According to Delhi Police Mr. Deependra Pathak, they are transferring the case to crime branch for through probe. But MP Ravindra Gaikwad also submitted a complaint to Delhi Police alleging that, although he had a business class ticket, he was made to travel in an economy class.
The entire incident took place on Thursday when Mr. Gaikwad was traveling from Pune to Delhi in Air India flight. Though he has a business class ticket with him, he alleged he was forced to travel by economy class in the flight saying that this is not the first instance with Air India. Air India officials also claimed that they have informed the MP prior that the flight he took AI 852 didn’t have the business class ticket at all as it was an all economy class aircraft.
The Sections 308 and 355 booked, amounting to culpable homicide and criminal assault. On Thursday, he repeatedly hit a 60 years officer of Air India with his slipper. But Mr. Gaikwad also mentioned in his complaint that he was abused and pushed by Air India Staff.
Yesterday Ravindra Gaikwad, the lawmaker created a furor that he hit 60-year-old Mr, Sukumar, Air India duty manager, with his slippers after he was asked to disembark from the flight. He later confirmed that he assaulted the staff, defiantly stating that he did not tolerate being insulted. And he refused to issue an apology.
“I shall not apologize; he should come to me and apologize. A 60-year-old man also should know how to behave” Gaikwad said.
The Airline has registered 2 complaints against the Shiv Sena MP, Ravindra Gaikwad, while the Party, Shiv Sena has sought a clear explanation from him. And for future- Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) and Air India (AI) both have decided to ban this Mp from flying on its flights. Aviation Minister Mr. AAshok Gajapathi told reporters on Friday that action will be taken and these lawmakers are not above the law. Another Shiv Sena MP Mr. Sanjay Raut said that anybody can have outbursts if he has wronged, whether he is a minister or a common man. It is right that the FIR has been registered but they will see against whom else a FIR should be filed.
