We are not against Hindi, we are against the imposition of the Hindi language – this is how Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin opened his mouth in the language debate. An event was recently organized in honor of those who gave their lives fighting for the language (Mozipore). There, Stalin said, when CN Annadurai came to power in 1986, he adopted a bilingual policy.
Stalin said they were trying to amend the law so that the state language could be given the status of a national language. In the words of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, “there is no reason to think that it is just Tamil, we are narrow-minded. Why only Hindi, we are not against any language. Having a special passion for Tamil does not mean that we hate other languages. ”
Opposing the ruling party’s policy of imposing Hindi, Stalin said it was a matter of personal choice as to who would speak which language, or which language to use. In this case, no language should be forced on others.
According to Stalin, if Hindi speakers were given priority in all cases, people of other languages would be kept as second-class citizens. Attempts are being made to impose Hindi on one’s mother tongue. This is where their opposition to Tamil-speaking and the whole of Tamil Nadu comes from.
In the end, he is just trying to divert the Lavanya case by bringing the age-old issue of language, according to the Central Govt. new education policy if states want till 8th standard all schools should be taught in the local language but till 5th standard, it is mandatory to be taught in the local or native language.
