The Indian government has not yet come to a decision on launching the NRC. State Minister for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said this while standing in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

There are many questions about the launching of NRC in the country. Although preparations have been made more than once, no concrete decision has been taken to date by the Center. Meanwhile, the Home Ministry said that the government is still thinking about launching the NRC.

During the campaign program in the assembly election of various states, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had promised to introduce NRC in the country. Needless to say, this time the remarks of State Minister for Home Affairs Nityananda Rai created a new direction to think about.

Replying to a question, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs told the Lok Sabha said that so far the Union government has not taken any decision to prepare the National Register of Indian Citizens or NRC at the national level. He also claimed that the NRC was formed in Assam under the direction of the Supreme Court. Earlier, in August and November 2020, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityananda Rai had told Parliament that the government had not yet taken any decision on the implementation of the NRC.
