Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly told BJP MPs at the parliamentary weekly meet on Thursday that he says ‘namaste’ to you every morning on the NaMo app but apart from 5 or 6 MPs, no one responds. PM Modi also reprimanded BJP legislators for ignoring the important messages also which he usually sent on NaMo App with his morning “Namaste” greetings.
Prime Minister Modi complaint, “Every morning, I say Namaste to all of you on NaMo App but only five or six of you respond”. The BJP has more than three hundred members in Parliament, out of which 276 in the Lok Sabha.
Prime Minister also said several important messages sent with the ‘Namaste’ greetings didn’t even elicit a single response. The prime minister is actually big on technology and is an avid social media user.
PM Modi asked the MPs to get cracking and interact with him directly on the issues they felt were very much important. The name of the NaMo app is made using the name from the first two letters of the Prime Minister’s name which actually allows users to receive messages and emails directly from Modi. Users can post messages as well in this app.
He appealed all his party members to make greater use of technology to reach out to people and society about the work done by them. Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Jitendra Singh also gave a presentation about the new feature on this NaMo app at the weekly meeting.
The BJP party MPs were also urged to make use of a new feature on the official NaMo app which facilitates direct connection with him. Minister Jitendra Singh told party legislators, “There is a new feature — New India Connect — in the official NaMo app which entails direct connects with the Prime Minister. The app enables the MPs to apprise the Prime Minister about the work done in their states, sections and constituencies.
However, this is not the first time Prime Minister Modi has reprimanded Party MPs. Earlier in August 2017 also, PM Modi had warned party leaders who didn’t attend Parliament that they may not get to contest the 2019 elections if they do not change their habit regarding the same.
After the meeting, the Members were asked to take part in an exercise to understand all the existing and new features and workings of the app. A Bharatiya Janata Party leader said, “We are creating a new group. It will include all the MPs and legislators to share their knowledge and ideas with the Prime Minister and other colleagues”
PM Modi used the app to interact with all the party workers during the recently concluded assembly election in Gujarat. Prime Minister has repeatedly prodded party MPs to get very much active on the app and share the information, which is updated regularly, about the central and state government with people. He also asked them to utilize social media for public feedback and to share the government’s success stories.
