Earlier, when the election day was announced in five states, the first round of voting in Manipur was decoded to be held on February 28 and the second round on March 3. This time it was changed. Recently, changes have been made in Punjab on polling day. Due to Sant Rabidas Jayanti, the polling day has been fixed on 20th February instead of 14th February.
In Manipur, there was a similar demand for backing the vote. The first round of voting took place on Sunday, February 28. People from the Christian community go to church for prayer that day. Therefore, demands for revision of the schedule were raised from various quarters.
Keeping that in mind, the Election Commission decided to postpone the first phase of polling in Manipur by one day.
