A suspected terrorist was killed on Wednesday after 12 hours of anti-terror operation in Thakurganj area of Lucknow. Explosive materials, 8 pistols, an ISIS flag and several other articles were recovered after the security forces gunned down the terrorist. Explosive materials, detonators, 650 rounds of ammo, 50 fired rounds, hard cash, gold, passports & mobile SIM cards were also recovered. The anti-terror operation began around 3.30 pm yesterday, and at 6 pm, the police said it will be over in a few hours, but the stand-off stretched up to 4:00 am today. The police force also saw a wire wrapped around the waist of the suspect, and they suspected that it could possibly be a detonator. Hence before commencing the investigation, the Bomb Disposal Squad has been called to dispose the explosives & detonators and to clear the room first.

Additional Director General of Police Daljit Chaudhury said, “At one point of time it appeared that 2 persons were holed up inside the house,”   “After opening the doors of the house (where they were holed up), the force went inside and found the terrorist dead along with various weapons”. Mr. Chaudhary and the IG ATS Aseem Arun said that the suspect was an active member of terror group ISIS.  According to Daljit Chaudhury, the operation has been closed and rest of the formalities will take place subsequently within 24 hours.

Arun also said that “we have confirmed that the suspect belongs to the Khurasan module of the ISIS and was an active member, but it is to be investigated, whether he has been religiously indoctrinated or not”.

There was a train blast just 24 hours ago in Bhopal Ujjain passenger train near Jabdi station in Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh, where 10 people were injured and 2 of them were seriously injured. Analysts are trying to link this suspect with the train blast of Bhopal Ujjain train because a train timetable was also found with him. CCTV footage near the train blast site had helped the police force to identify the suspects.  Two persons were arrested from Kanpur and one from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh. And 3 more persons were arrested in MP. The bomb used in the train blast was allegedly assembled in the house and an ISIS flag was also found there.

After the anti-terror operation was over, Arun said, “We were trying to catch the suspected terrorist (identified as Saifullah) alive, but unfortunately we were not able to materialize it. Tear gas and chilly bombs were fired so that the suspect comes out from the house, but, he did not.”

Initially, the commandos suspected that there were 2 persons hiding inside the house. The police forces had drilled a hole in the roof and 2 holes in the wall of the house and spotted two weapons to shoot, from which they concluded that there were two persons. But they found only one body on the blood-splattered floor.
