Lalu Prasad Yadav will now work for a meager Rs 93 a day as a gardener in the Hazaribagh jail. He was sentenced to a three and half year’s term in a Rs 950 crore fodder scam case. Lalu was imprisoned in Rancho’s Birsa Munda Jail till now and he will be transported to Hazaribagh open jail today. According to the report, RJD chief will be paid Rs 93 per day.

He took to the social media website Twitter to post an open letter in Hindi in which he shared his thoughts about his conviction and sentencing. Lalu said to his followers that he is not scared of those conspiring against him and that he will never compromise with political ideologies of secularism and rights for backward classes, scheduled class, and Dalits.

In the online letter, RJD founder and chief launched a scathing attack on ‘Manuvadis’, BJP and Sangh. In another tweet, he even accused his political rivals and BJP of resorting to witchcraft and black magic for a vendetta against him. One of the tweets said, “Rather than practicing BJP’s Simple Rule – “Follow us or We will Fix you”. I will die happily fixing myself for Social justice, harmony & equality.”

The special CBI court sentenced Lalu Yadav to three and half year in jail and a total fine of Rs 10 lakh in the fodder scam case. The RJD supremo has been charged with withdrawing Rs 89.27 lakh from the Deoghar treasury fraudulently some 21 years ago.

Last year on 23rd December, Lalu Prasad Yadav in an announcement said that his official Twitter account will be handled by his central office in Patna with proper consultation with his sons and family. His family and senior party members accused the state’s coalition government between BJP and Nitish Kumar lead JDU for setting up Lalu in a political vendetta. The current party leader and Lalu’s younger son, Tejashwi Yadav said that they will move the High Court against the judgment.

Tejashwi said, “Lalu is not the name of a person but of an ideology. We, his followers, will not be cowed down”.

As per the rules if the CBI court had sentenced him for a term up to three years, the family could have approached the same court for bail plea, but since the sentence is more than 3 years, the family have only one option to approach directly the High Court for bail.
