If all goes well, the Center will sign a peace agreement with the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) in February, claimed Divakar Devraj Singh, the adopted son of KLO president Jiban Singh. But did the coaching organizations in Assam and the coaching organizations in West Bengal disagree? The answer to the question can be found on Sunday 23 January. On that day a general meeting of the Koch-Rajbangshis was called in North Guwahati.

For the first time since the start of the peace process with the KLO, KLO leaders of the two states and various Koch-Rajbangshi organizations are meeting in a general meeting. After Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma was given the task of initiating peace talks on behalf of the Center, not only the West Bengal government but also the surrendered KLO leaders in West Bengal were bent.

They said, just holding talks with Assam will not solve the problem. It is also important to talk to West Bengal. According to Devraj, the former KLOs of West Bengal have finally agreed to come for talks. Harshvardhan, Tom Adhikari, and Malkhan Singh are in the meeting on Sunday. Jeevan Singh’s sister and former KLO leader Sumitra Das and her husband Dhananjay Barman will also be present at the meeting.
