The relation between Tibetan guru and China is not clear and consistent but his relation with India always has been smooth and consistent. Today the ministry of external affairs said that the stand of India on Dalai Lama is “clear and consistent”. The MEA said it in an apparent response to the report that the Union government had ordered central and state functionaries to avoid the events which have been organized by Tibetan leaders in our country.
The ministry of affair also said that the position of Indian government position on Dalai lam’s Holiness is totally clear and consistent. He is really a revered religious leader and he is always deeply respected by all Indians. And till date, there is no change in the position. The religious guru Dalai Lama’s Holiness is accorded all freedom to carry out all the religious activities in our country.
As per the report, Foreign Secretary Mr. Vijay Gokhale has sent a report to Mr. P K Sinha, theCabinet secretary and the PK Sinha is acting on the note written by Mr. Gokhale. The note actually asked senior leaders and government functionaries from both states and centers Centre and states to avoid participation in all those events organized by the “Tibetan leadership in India”. Mr. P K Sinha’s directive reportedly was specific to end of March and early-April events of the current year that are being planned to mark the start of sixty years in exile of the religious leader Dalai Lama. The note was sent on the theme of protecting the relation between India and China. As per the note sent to him, this is the crucial time for India to maintain the relationship and this relation is very sensitive for both the countries.
In China’s perception, Dalai Lama is a separatist and China also expresses displeasure when Indian leaders meet the Tibetan religious leader. Dalai Lama has been living in exile in India for the past 6 decades.
Here no one can be blamed because the background for the news and the note of Vijay Gokhale is a little bit different. Actually, from past few months the Doklam Standoff issue was on the peak position and now it is going to be resolved as, Foreign Secretary, Mr. Gokhale held the key negotiations to resolve the 73-day standoff at Doklam. For that, he visited Beijing city and held huge discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Mr. Wang Yi. The main purpose of his visit to China was to solve the difficulties of bilateral and trilateral relationship issues between the two countries.
The Doklam standoff was ended on 28th August, this year. it has been ended after the road construction by Chinese military stopped close to the area, called Chicken Neck corridor. This area is actually Bhutan’s official border area. The experts observed a negative indication of these types of activities by China. Continuously China is trying to establish regional supremacy along the borders in border areas and in the Indian Ocean, which is an attempt to narrow the strategic space of India by penetrating the neighborhood.
