The Centre has extended indefinitely the restrictions on international airlines. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement issued on Monday. The guidelines state that restrictions on some international flights will remain in place until further notice

According to the guidelines issued by the DGCA on January 19, the ban on international passenger airlines was due to expire on Monday (February 26). But experts say the ban has been extended keeping in mind the situation in the country and the international community. However, international cargo airlines and DGCA-approved special airlines will continue to operate, the guidelines said.

International passenger flights have been suspended since March 23 after the start of the second wave of Corona in the country. However, special international flights have been operating since May 2020 under the Bande Bharat Mission. Incidentally, the centre stopped international flights on March 22, 2020, to prevent coronavirus infection. There has been a lockdown in the country for almost two and a half months since March 25.

Then the unlock episode begins step by step. Among them, Indians stranded abroad were brought back through the ‘Bande Bharat’ project. Besides, India has agreements with 16 countries. There are a few weekly flights from those countries to India. Apart from this, if someone wants to come to India separately or if anyone want to go to the respective country from India, they have to take special permission.
