The Centre has written to the state of West Bengal stating that omicrons are on the rise in the country. It made it very clear that the state should be prepared in all respects to control Omicron. From medicines to oxygen supply— there should be no shortage anywhere. Do not indulge in any laxity in following the Covid rules, which was observed during the 2nd wave in 2021.

The Centre has even warned the state not to spread any misinformation about Omicron. The letter said the media should regularly report the number of omicron-affected people and other information in detail if necessary. The people of the state also have to be made aware of how to stop Omicron.

Union home secretary Ajay Bhalla on Monday wrote to the state chief secretary in this regard. The two-page letter gives nine separate instructions to the state. That order focuses mainly on two issues — ‘caution’ and ‘caution’.

Maskless gatherings have been seen repeatedly in different parts of the state and the country during the festival and wedding season. The home secretary has also warned the state about the same. The letter writes that the number of Omicron cases in the country as of Monday was 578. Referring to this, Ajay wrote that omicron cases have been detected in 19 states and Union Territories of the country.
