BJP leader and Bengaluru MLA Suresh Kumar in a recent interview said that the BJP intends to make Bengaluru a livable place, not just a happening place. Suresh Kumar spoke about the suggestions to make Bengaluru the second capital.

When asked what he thought about the suggestion to make the second capital, Kumar said that it is a great thought that should have been thought of sooner. He said that senior leader RV Deshpande should have had this thought from the beginning. Kumar insisted that the Bhartiya Janta Party for years has been urging for a second Supreme Court bench in south India, most preferably in Bengaluru. The party made sincere efforts while it was in power. He said that all in all, efforts need to be made to make Bengaluru the ideal place for a second capital. Kumar was disappointed that until now there have been no efforts to move in that direction. That the government instead of coming up with practical ideas for this action is merely making fancy, fantastic ones.

Suresh Kumar was asked how the BJP will tackle Bengaluru’s problems if the party comes into power. In response, the MLA said that the party is holding brainstorming sessions in all assembly constituencies. In these forums, they make direct contact with the people to make out the issues affecting them and find solutions to them. The solutions that they are trying to come up with are practical, not grandiose ones.

Kumar spoke about the main issues that BJP would focus on in Bengaluru. He said that the first on the list is garbage deposal. This is followed by traffic and finally, all infrastructure encompassing roads drains and the Bellandur Lake. He added that if the government could make the lake a tourist attraction, it would be marked as an achievement.

Suresh Kumar explained that the Bhartiya Janta Party is coming up with a customized manifesto for Bengaluru. The manifesto that will be released in the first or second week of February will include initiatives for the city. He stressed that BJP wants to make Bengaluru city a livable one.

The MLA was asked whether BJP’s chances would be affected by the Congress launching a slew of projects for Bengaluru. He commented that everyone could see the ulterior motive behind the projects of the Congress government. He gave the example of the steel bridge. He called the projects “election-time projects.”

Kumar added that BJP is making necessary preparations to go beyond 20 of the 28 seats.
