Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann withdrew the security of 122 VIPs in the state before being sworn in as Punjab chief minister on March 16. The list includes former Congress ministers, Akali Dal, and even former AAP MLAs.
Mann will take oath at Bhagat Singh’s village Khatkar Kalan on March 16 at noon. Earlier, Mann, who has been elected as the Chief Minister, had a meeting with DG VK Vora of Punjab Police. In a letter to the Punjab police, he asked for the security of 122 VIPs in the state to be lifted. The government directive issued today shows that most of the leaders on the list are from the Punjab Congress.
Earlier, the Congress government had arranged security for them. The list includes the names of many former ministers who did not win this time. Even though many have won, he is no longer able to become a minister. So their security has been taken away. Neither the former speaker nor the deputy speaker will get security anymore. Former security minister of the state Amarinder Singh Raja had to provide security to 21 security personnel.
However, the security of Akali leader Prakash Singh Badal’s family was not taken away. The Badal family was given security on the instructions of the Union Home Ministry.
