Jat protestors conduct a sit-in protest at Sukhrali road in Gurgaon

After 28 days of protest, Jat community is going to observe black day tomorrow. All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti(AIJASS) has decided to observe black day on 26th February 2017 to protest against their demands regarding arakshan (reservation), which has not been implemented by Haryana Government. All the Jat community leaders have taken this step to make it happen under the aegis of AIJASS.

President of AIJASS said that all the community members will wear black caps, ribbons, turbans and armbands to protest against the government policies. He also said that they will not cooperate with Haryana govt from 1st March 2017. No one from the community will pay the electric bill, water bill, loan installment etc. He said Jats from all over India(from UP, Delhi, and Rajasthan) will protest in the national capital on 2nd March 17 and they will submit a memo draft to the President on reservation issue. They also planned to announce a date for gherao parliament. And the date will be announced on 2nd March. Their demands not only include seeking quota in the government job and education under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category but also include the release of those jailed persons during the last year’s agitation.

Almost 30 people were killed, more than 100 people injured and property worth few crores of rupees was damaged at many places in Haryana state during the last year’s Jat agitation which had turned violent at that time. Rohtak, Sonipat and many more neighboring districts, including Jhajjar, were the worst hit by the last year’s violence.

Haryana’s BJP govt. is worrying about the situation but today authorities of govt. said that they ready to handle any situation resulting from this ongoing agitation of Jat community. According to chief inspector Ram Niwas, they have ordered district officials to maintain the law and order. All the officials have been directed to ensure the traffic on roads. Adequate military and paramilitary forces also have been stationed at the site of the protest. Traffic will be diverted also if required.

“All SPs and DCs are in touch with Jat leaders to observe where traffic has to be diverted”- says Chief Inspector Ram Niwas.  In view of the fresh Jat agitation, paramilitary and paramilitary forces have been deployed in all the sensitive areas of the state. This time Indian National Lok Dal(INLD), the main opposition party in Haryana has openly come out in support of the agitating Jats and asked haryana government to meet all their demands.

In this 21st century, after 70 years of independent, till now people of India doesn’t understand the ethics of life. Reservations are not for the upliftment of backward classes, it was created initially for the protection against caste discrimination. But now it has become the punishment of general classes. Although it is tough but change has to come in the policy, in systems, time to time based on the current situation and not according to past.
