The National Medical Commission (NMC), made important decisions for medical students returning from war-torn Ukraine. Medical students who have been forced to return home before completing the internship due to the Russia-Ukraine war will be able to complete the course here. The NMC said in a statement on Friday.

The concerned medical college will not be able to charge any fee for those students. Apart from that, they will also get the same facilities and scholarships as the trainee doctors in the colleges of this country, said the National Medical Commission.

The new rules, which came into effect in November last year, require medical students to graduate from the same medical college and do a 12-month internship. However, this rule is being changed in the case of medical students returning from Ukraine in war situations.

The statement said, “Several medical graduates have been forced to return from abroad. Don’t make it a situation, fight over it. The decision was made after feeling the pain and pressure of the students who were forced to return to the country in this situation, they will be able to finish their internship here.

Although the arrangements for medical students who have returned to the country without graduating have not been included in this scheme, whatever the Indian government has done, no doubt that is a big step ever made by any Prime Minister in India.
