Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a meeting with US President Joe Biden on Monday. The virtual meeting between Modi and Biden is set to take place in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine war, the fall of Imran Khan’s government in Pakistan, and the financial crisis in Sri Lanka.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders will discuss bilateral cooperation. They will also exchange views on a wide range of issues, including the Indo-Pacific region and the current situation in South Asia. According to the Foreign Ministry, the two countries may also discuss issues of mutual interest.
Relations between India and the United States have deteriorated since Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. Washington has repeatedly questioned New Delhi’s position on the Moscow-Kyiv conflict. The West has also been dissatisfied with India’s recent oil deal with Russia.
Besides, Imran was deposed in Pakistan on Saturday. In Sri Lanka, too, the government is under increasing pressure due to the severe economic crisis. In this context, what will be the position of the two countries in the coming days, shall be discussed in the Modi-Biden meeting on Monday.
