India began sending food to the common people of Afghanistan. Two and a half thousand tons of wheat was sent through Pakistan on Tuesday. This is not the first time India is helping Afghanistan, India has stood by Afghanistan before also. 5 lakh doses of covaxin were sent to that country. Also, 1.6 tons of medical equipment were sent.

On this day 50 trucks left together from Amritsar. Before that, an event was organized in Amritsar. In that event, Afghan Foreign Secretary Harshvardhan Schringler was accompanied by Afghan Ambassador Farid Mamundje. They were accompanied by Bishao Parajuli, director of the World Food Program.

Last October, New Delhi decided to send 50,000 metric tons of wheat to Afghanistan in response to the food crisis. That much amount was not possibly sent but this two and half thousand ton will help them a lot.

India had sought Islamabad’s permission to use the road to transport the bulk of the goods. To this end, India has written to the Pakistani government seeking permission for the trucks to enter Pakistan. Islamabad initially objected to that proposal. The Taliban later approached Islamabad seeking relief.

Initially, however, Islamabad claimed that Pakistani drivers would run trucks loaded with food items supplied by India. And that will be done under the banner of the United Nations. But New Delhi objected to that proposal. It is said that Indian or Afghan drivers will take those trucks. Imran Khan’s administration has finally agreed to that. Finally, on Tuesday, India began sending relief supplies to the country, which has been suffering from a severe food crisis.
