Tata Group-owned Air India has announced that it will operate three aircraft from the Ukrainian capital Kyiv in the wake of military operations along the Ukrainian border. Three flights will be operated between India and Ukraine for three days from February 22, the agency said. Bookings have already been announced through Air India’s booking office, website, call center, and authorized travel agent.
The three-day India-Ukraine flight will be operated on February 22, 24, and 26, the agency said. The decision to fly the plane is seen as a major step in the tensions between Russia and Ukraine. So far, Air India is the only Indian airline to offer flights to Ukraine.
No other Indian airline flies between Ukraine and India. Ukraine International Airlines operates only one flight a week from Kyiv to New Delhi via Ras Al Khaimah. The Indian embassy on Tuesday advised Indian nationals and students living in Ukraine to leave the country immediately amid tensions. But many are terrified of the uncertainty of getting a plane ticket. The embassy said not to be worried about the ticket. They are expected to breathe a sigh of relief at the decision to fly Air India.
