Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused the Trinamool Congress of distributing Hindu votes in Goa during the election campaign in Uttar Pradesh. He was speaking at a meeting in Kanpur on Monday. He made this allegation in that meeting. The Prime Minister asked the Election Commission to look into the matter.

In a recent media interview, Trinamool MP and party leader in Goa Mahua Maitra said, “The alliance of the party with the Maharashtra Gomant Party led by Sudhin Dhabalikar will prevent Hindus from uniting in the coastal areas of Goa.” He further said that in North Goa, 13-14 seats will be contested directly with the BJP. No one will vote for Congress in these seats.

Although the Prime Minister did not directly address the issue in his speech, he accused the Trinamool Congress of splitting the Hindu vote.

In 2016, the post-vote alliance with the Gomantak Party helped the BJP to come to power in Goa. That year, the Congress party won more votes in the coastal states. Sudhin Dhabalikar was also made a minister but he was removed from the government in 2019 when Promod Sawant took charge.
